My Visual World
Our first assignment in my Studio III class was to create a collage that presents my “visual world”: design references based on my own personality, history, and interests.
I started with a library—the George Peabody Library in Baltimore. I grew up in libraries; I love how a good book can transport you to a whole other universe through a story, and I sought to capture that exact experience with my collage. Like picking up a book on a shelf, each opening is a different place or environment I find inspirational. It’s a mix of my favorite interiors (The Beverly Hills Hotel, Royal Palms Shuffleboard in Brooklyn, or Sketch in London), cities that I love (Annecy in France, Amsterdam, Brooklyn), places of personal significance (my childhood home and the Harper Reading Room at UChicago), and other spots I find endlessly fascinating.
